I am so frkn proud of you I can’t say it enough. The book is a very good read and kept me wanting more. I honestly had a really hard time putting it down. Your writing style is so descriptive and visual that I felt like a fly on the wall in each chapter. As I told you before young lady, you are on your way to greatness!

Girlfriend…you did your THANG with this book!!!!! The way you told this story, so detailed, I felt as though I was there rolling w/Jazzman & Isis. Parts of the book had me on the edge of my seat, gasping, laughing, and just saying DAMN. As I’ve already told you, I can not wait for the sequel.

WOW! This novel was marvelous. It normally takes me a good 2 months to finish a book because of my time schedule but this book had me spending every spare minute I had reading it.

I bought this book for my girl, who couldn’t put it down. When she was done she let my mother read it. From what I could tell they were thoroughly pleased. I normally don’t read this kind of genre, but I had to see what all the fuss was about. DAMN, this book is good. I must admit, that I TOO couldn’t put the book down. Way to go LaQuarn. I need more!

Now back to the book.lol I loved it. It didn’t start off slow at all. It was definately a page turner. I couldn’t put it down. I had to finish it.

I liked how all the characters some how knew each other in some sort of way. I have my mouth open at times, where people was looking at me living, “daggg what is she reading, it must be good”. lol

I can’t wait for the sequel.

It only took me 3 days to read it…… WOW! i think the begining of the third day I was on chapter 14, by then I couldn’t put the book down every where I went i took it with me ( to the hospital, to my kids school, bathroom, date and many more places….. lol). I stayed up to 5 a.m the last night reading it, I didn’t even know it was that LATE!! Anyways long story short I’m waiting for ” JUST ONE MORE “, AND whatever else is coming. Without giving away too many details to those who have not read The Last One, what was your message behind exploiting the life and consequences of people like Isis Dobbs? Were you trying to convey the harsh reality of this lifestyle or was it inspired by a true story or both?

Great book. I’m ready for part 2. Hurry up already.

    Hi Tashima,
Of course, we don’t want to give too many details away about the book :-) but, to answer your question in regards to main character Isis Dobbs… Her life, like the lives of many other young woman growing up in urban development’s face challenges. Isis Dobbs lived by her own rules, did things her way, and ultimately had to deal with the consequences that came with those decisions. Many of her pains were self inflicted, caused by her own greed and need to have more.
While writing this novel, my intentions were not to glorify the “LIFE” but to bring awareness to those tempted by it. My only wish would be for those living it, to get out and embrace change. Those who are tempted by it, well I can only pray that you reconsider and choose another route.
My inspiration behind THE LAST ONE came from no one person, or thing, or situation. Each character was created at a special time in my life. From characters as complex as Isis, to supporting characters such as Ms. Tracy, all played an intricate part in the making of this novel.
Thanks for reaching out. Your thoughts and query’s are appreciated a million times over!
    Best Wishes,
    LaQuarn Michaels

Wow…thanks for getting back to me. It’s amazing how bits and pieces of one’s life can mount into a story whether written or lived out. Thanks for your contribution to the world of writing and making change through your talents.

The Last One was an excellent book…Isis was a cold-hearted woman…… Every chapter kept me on the edge of my seat…OMG!!! It was amazing the things Isis,Jazzman, and Roy went through…I dont want to tell the story… But all I can say is, “The Last One” is a must-get book to read and add to your book collection, well I know I did……… cannot wait for the sequel………
